NITIE Alumni Meet

Sansmaran

8th October, 2005 (Saturday)

This year during Alumni meet – Sansmaran on 8th October, 2005 (Saturday), the batch of PGDIE - 8 who have vehemently shouldered the motto of NITIE “Udyog Pragati” was felicitated on their silver jubilee. 21 alumni of PGDIE - 8th batch along with their families & children attended the event.

The AGM was followed by felicitation of the IE-8 alumni. Prof. Ashok Pundir Honorary secretary, NAA kicked start the event with the welcome address. He expressed his wishes to the IE-8 Silver Jubilee batch along with their family & children. He said that he could see expression of happiness on faces as if the alumni have been reborn as students. He further emphasized the need of the present generation to learn from the icons of industry.

Prince Azariah, alumnus of first batch of IE, ex- CIO Reliance India Ltd, discussed about the debate of whether NITIE should become a management school or not.. He encouraged all to keep talking about this for the next 25 years so that we may get inspired to become the best and serve our nation and industry in true spirits.

On behalf of 8th Batch, Mr. Ramesh Mirakhur working as Vice President Convansys Corp. in USA, especially flown in to India to attend the event, expressed that India has arrived in terms of economic progress. In today’s world it is great to be an Indian. Indians are looked up with respect in the world because of their knowledge, skills they contribute to world economy.

The felicitation was followed by some sublime performances in dance, mimicry, songs by students of current batches. The atmosphere during the cultural events was electrifying with all in awe of performances of the students. All then retired for the day with laughter ringing all over NITIE after a delicious dinner in the lush green NITIE lawns, the cynosure of most outsiders’ attention. A large no. of alumni along with their families, faculty, officers and current batch students attended the event.

New day, a new dawn, the 9th of October, the alumni spoke of a new beginning, the beginning of a new, more meaningful and purposeful relationship between them and NITIE. Each of the beacons spoke on “What we can do for NITIE”. Mr. Ramesh Mirakhur suggested the implementation of a very innovative concept of e-mentoring where in each alumni will be associated with current students of NITIE and he will be their friend, philosopher and guide in career related issues, knowledge source and may be even a sponsor.

The afternoon session began with the felicitation of the “guides to the guiding forces”. The professors who had honed the skills and shaped today’s industrial giants were presented a shawl, a bouquet and a memento by Dr. S.D. Awale, President, NAA. Prof. Rajen Mehrotra, Prof. T S Venkoba Rao, Prof. A.S. Sastry, Prof.(Ms.) Madhuri Seth, Prof.(Ms.) Sadhana Ghosh, Prof. N. Narayanan were all present for the event. It was a laudable effort to emphasize on “Guru Shishya Parampara” of Indian culture to express the love and respect we have for our Faculty.

The felicitation of the faculties was a befitting way to mark the consummation of Sansmaran 2005., an occasion of reminiscence for the silver jubilee batch of PGDIE.

It’s with a feeling of déjà vu that the IE – 8 alumni bid farewell to NITIE that day, recalling and reliving the exact emotions that they experienced 25 years ago. They were once again stepping back into the time machine to be transported back to the current, but not before ensuring that their bonds with NITIE have been strengthened and have left indelible impressions in our and their hearts and NITIE’s annals.
