NITIE Alumni Meet

Sansmaran

8th October, 2005 (Saturday)

This year during Alumni meet – Sansmaran on 8th October, 2005 (Saturday), the batch of PGDIE - 8 who have vehemently shouldered the motto of NITIE “Udyog Pragati” was felicitated on their silver jubilee. 21 alumni of PGDIE - 8th batch along with their families & children attended the event.

The AGM was followed by felicitation of the IE-8 alumni. Prof. Ashok Pundir Honorary secretary, NAA kicked start the event with the welcome address. He expressed his wishes to the IE-8 Silver Jubilee batch along with their family & children. He said that he could see expression of happiness on faces as if the alumni have been reborn as students. He further emphasized the need of the present generation to learn from the icons of industry.

Prince Azariah, alumnus of first batch of IE, ex- CIO Reliance India Ltd, discussed about the debate of whether NITIE should become a management school or not.. He encouraged all to keep talking about this for the next 25 years so that we may get inspired to become the best and serve our nation and industry in true spirits.

On behalf of 8th Batch, Mr. Ramesh Mirakhur working as Vice President Convansys Corp. in USA, especially flown in to India to attend the event, expressed that India has arrived in terms of economic progress. In today’s world it is great to be an Indian. Indians are looked up with respect in the world because of their knowledge, skills they contribute to world economy.

The felicitation was followed by some sublime performances in dance, mimicry, songs by students of current batches. The atmosphere during the cultural events was electrifying with all in awe of performances of the students. All then retired for the day with laughter ringing all over NITIE after a delicious dinner in the lush green NITIE lawns, the cynosure of most outsiders’ attention. A large no. of alumni along with their families, faculty, officers and current batch students attended the event.

New day, a new dawn, the 9th of October, the alumni spoke of a new beginning, the beginning of a new, more meaningful and purposeful relationship between them and NITIE. Each of the beacons spoke on “What we can do for NITIE”. Mr. Ramesh Mirakhur suggested the implementation of a very innovative concept of e-mentoring where in each alumni will be associated with current students of NITIE and he will be their friend, philosopher and guide in career related issues, knowledge source and may be even a sponsor.

The afternoon session began with the felicitation of the “guides to the guiding forces”. The professors who had honed the skills and shaped today’s industrial giants were presented a shawl, a bouquet and a memento by Dr. S.D. Awale, President, NAA. Prof. Rajen Mehrotra, Prof. T S Venkoba Rao, Prof. A.S. Sastry, Prof.(Ms.) Madhuri Seth, Prof.(Ms.) Sadhana Ghosh, Prof. N. Narayanan were all present for the event. It was a laudable effort to emphasize on “Guru Shishya Parampara” of Indian culture to express the love and respect we have for our Faculty.

The felicitation of the faculties was a befitting way to mark the consummation of Sansmaran 2005., an occasion of reminiscence for the silver jubilee batch of PGDIE.

It’s with a feeling of déjà vu that the IE – 8 alumni bid farewell to NITIE that day, recalling and reliving the exact emotions that they experienced 25 years ago. They were once again stepping back into the time machine to be transported back to the current, but not before ensuring that their bonds with NITIE have been strengthened and have left indelible impressions in our and their hearts and NITIE’s annals.

Sansmaran -7th batch

Sansmaran 2005

Sansmaran is an event to recall oneself from the lanes of past memories. These are the memories which are marked on the oval roads, stairs, greeneries and the places where now the children of present are making their marks.

We, the children of present want to carry the footsteps of past in the future. Sansmaran is an attempt of NITIE to rejuvenate its glorifying past.

Sansmaran has its own culture and style. A style is always carried by a sequence.
So, it started with the Annual General Body meeting at Syndicate 2.

At first there was proposal about starting "Corpus Fund" where 2% of Lakshya (Indias only on the job achievers contest) savings will be added and it will be used for the campus development.

After this there were elections for forming executive committee. In which Mr. Ganesh Natarajan, CEO Zensar Technologies, one of proud alumnus of PGDIE was selected unanimously as chairman.

Then Mr. R Suresh, MD Stantonchase International, PGDIE-16 alumnus expressed his views about focusing major attention is on LAKSHYA, which is identified as the only way through which NITIE can be famed. He ardently promoted LAKSHYA and suggested to make it an International Event and put forth his intention of taking initiative to popularize PGDIE and NITIE.

Finally the Annual General Body meeting came to the end with proudly quoting NITIE as â€Å“MIT of the East" from Dr. Ashok Misra, Director NITIE.

After Annual General Body meeting all the respected guests moved to auditorium for witnessing the amazing performances in the form the speeches by alumni and cultural events by students.

The program commenced with the speech of Prof. Ashok Pundir, Dean Placements. Being the alumnus himself, He spoke on his cherished moments at NITIE. He highlighted the growth of NITIE in all the years and stressed the importance of connectedness through the meets like Sansmaran.

Later, felicitation ceremony of Dr. KVSS Narayana Rao, a PGDIE-7 alumnus, took place.
Dr. KVSS Narayana Rao did B.Tech from J.N.T.U Engineering College and after completing PGDIE from NITIE he went to pursue his PhD in industrial management from IIT-Powai in 1993. He worked as faculty in NITIE and recently he is in ICFAI Mumbai. He reiterated his experiences at NITIE, both as a student and as a faculty.
Then, Mr. A K Birla, PGDIE 6th batch was presented a Memento as a remembrance of the event.

On the occasion, a souvenir for alumni was released by Prof Ashok Misra, Director NITIE. He spoke on NITIE as an extraordinary institute that offers courses which are unique in today̢۪s industrial scenario. He further said that all the alumni are stakeholders who should raise the banner of NITIE still higher. He stressed on the need of further growth of the institute such that it surpasses all the other colleges.

After the formal felicitation part, cultural events were presented by students that included dance, skit and rendition of song. The gathering then progressed to the lawns for dinner where games were played so as to make the evening more fun filled.

And this way, bonds of love strengthened and footsteps started shining once again. NITIE is waiting for "Sunshine" to make every mark visible and the rays coming out of it will glow HER on the Top of the World.
